The Trump Followers are Delusional

The 2020 US presidential election was one of history's most divisive and controversial. Despite losing the popular vote and the electoral college, former president Donald Trump refused to concede and claimed the election was rigged and stolen from him. He filed dozens of lawsuits, pressured state officials, and incited his supporters to protest and storm the Capitol on January 6, 2021. All of his efforts failed to overturn the results, and Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.

However, even after Biden's inauguration, many of Trump's followers continued to believe he was the legitimate president and would somehow return to power. They subscribed to various conspiracy theories, such as QAnon, which alleged that Trump was secretly fighting a cabal of satanic pedophiles and that he would soon reveal the truth and arrest his enemies. They also followed Trump's statements on social media platforms, where he repeated his baseless allegations of fraud and corruption.

These followers are delusional. They are living in a fantasy world that has no connection to reality. They are ignoring the facts, the evidence, and the law. They are rejecting the democratic process and the will of the majority of Americans. They are endangering themselves and others by spreading misinformation and violence. They undermine the stability and security of the country they claim to love.

Why are they so delusional? There are many possible explanations, such as cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, motivated reasoning, social identity theory, cult-like behavior, and psychological distress. However, none of these excuses can justify their irrationality and irresponsibility. They need to wake up from their delusions and accept reality. They need to stop following a narcissistic liar who cares only about himself. They need to respect the Constitution and the rule of law. They must heal their wounds and work with their citizens for a better future.
